Accessibility

Inclusive by design

A website designed to include more people.

We want this website to be usable and welcoming for as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology, keyboard-only navigation, or need reduced motion.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This page describes what we've built in, where we know we can still improve, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

  • Keyboard first

Every interactive control is reachable and operable without a mouse.

  • Readable by default

High-contrast colour, scalable text, and semantic structure.

  • Respects your settings

We honour reduced-motion and system font-size preferences.

  • We want feedback

If a barrier gets in your way, tell us, we'll respond and fix it.

SECTION 01

Our approach

This website is built with semantic HTML, logical heading order, clear focus states, keyboard navigation, and accessible forms. Colours and typography are chosen to meet contrast standards, and no functionality depends on animation.

Accessibility is treated as part of design and engineering. New pages, forms and components are considered against the same working baseline as the rest of the website.

SECTION 02

Standards we follow

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, as our working target.
  • WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices for interactive components.
  • HTML Living Standard for document structure and semantics.
SECTION 03

What we support

  • Skip-to-content links and predictable, consistent navigation.
  • Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators.
  • Accessible menus, dialogs, and form controls built on tested primitives.
  • Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive tech.
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion system setting.
  • Responsive design that works from small phones to large monitors.
  • Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content.
SECTION 04

Known limitations

We know accessibility is a moving target and no site is ever finished. Areas we continue to improve include:

  • Alternative descriptions for complex illustrations and data visuals.
  • Downloadable documents (PDFs) shared through the site, we'll note when a document isn't yet fully tagged.
  • Third-party embeds where we don't control the underlying markup.

If you find something that isn't listed here, we'd like to hear about it.

SECTION 05

Testing with assistive technology

We review the website using keyboard navigation, browser zoom and reduced-motion settings, and use assistive-technology checks where available. Identified barriers are considered alongside other website maintenance.

SECTION 06

Feedback and requests

If you encounter a barrier, need content in an alternative format, or have suggestions, please contact us with the page address, the issue encountered and the format or adjustment that would help.

You can reach us through the contact page, or email support@tcfoundation.ng.
